I started sewing a couple years ago, so I’m still quite new to it all. I improvised doing neat-ish seam edges with a zigzag stitch until I learned about the Serger. I did my research and wanted something affordable, you can spend a lot of moola on one of these puppies. The Brother Lock 1034D by far had the best reviews. It comes with a very handy video, and reading materials. These both helped enormously in figuring out the right tension to use with various fabrics. It’s all about the right tension. – Sorta like life. Too much tension is overwhelming and too little is boring. Don’t you think?
P.S The Brother Lock 1034D is no good for thick fabric like leather and such. Bummer, I know…especially since winter is upon us.
